The Times: Scientists call for research hubs to solve mystery of ME.
The article discusses the importance of government investment in ME research hubs and Ministers have been urged to end decades of underfunding in ME.
Featuring in the article, Action for ME Chief Executive, Sonya, said:
“The historic lack of investment in ME research compared to other diseases is shocking. We see a lot of government rhetoric on reducing the welfare bill and getting people back to work. Investing in research is a logical step to achieve this."
Sonya said the new research platform was a "prime opportunity" for the government to demonstrate its commitment to making the UK a world leader in life sciences. Sonya also said:
We have scientists willing to help. We can access NHS Data. We can utilise AI, technology and genetics. It is a huge opportunity to make significant advances in our understanding of ME, and find new treatments.”
