Severe ME Day 2024
August 05, 2024
08 August 2024 marks Severe ME Day.
Severe ME Day was originally founded by the 25% ME Group and has since been honoured as a day dedicated to people with severe and very severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.
The hashtag #SevereMEDay is used by organisations across the world to amplify the voices of those who are severely or very severely affected, and to honour those who have sadly lost their lives to this debilitating condition.
This year, we will be raising vital awareness and understanding of severe ME through sharing lots of information relating to the symptoms of severe ME and the devastating impact it has on the lives of the people it affects, alongside information on how healthcare professionals can provide safer hospital care for severe ME.
What is Severe ME?
- 1 in 4 people with ME have severe ME, leaving them housebound or bedbound
- People with severe ME often require full-time care
- Severe ME requires specialist medical treatment
- Severe ME can be fatal.
